The Vamps: 'We're trying to earn our trade by touring'

'Last Night' heartthrobs The Vamps are currently on their UK headlining tour and they revealed that it's crucial they continue to do things in a grassroots way because having access to things like Twitter means that it's easy to try and boost their career from behind computer screens, which is something they don't value as much.

During a new interview with the Manchester Evening News, member Brad Simpson explained that while having the support of social media in this day and age is great and it allows them to reach new audiences, they still think it's so important to get on the road and perform live in front of their fans as much as possible: "We’ve all been in bands before where the way to get big is to just gig – practise and rehearse and support other bands."

He continued: "I think that’s the best way of doing it because you earn your trade, and I think we would have continued down that route if YouTube wasn’t available. Social media gave us that opportunity to reach fanbases and to do it a lot quicker than it potentially would have been."

Simpson, meanwhile, recently shared what he likes the least about touring and admitted that he often struggles with feelings of homesickness: "I do come home when I can and I really miss my family – that’s the worst part of the whole thing. I was back two weeks ago for a couple of days."
