The Vamps on 1D 'chart battle': 'We're more interested in getting our music out there and touring'

The Vamps have insisted that they aren't concerned about going head-to-head with One Direction in the UK singles chart.

Both acts have released tracks in time for this week's singles chart cycle, with The Vamps unleashing 'Oh Cecilia' and One Direction bringing out 'Steal My Girl'.

Speaking in a new interview with Sugarscape, The Vamps guitarist James McVey suggested that notions of a chart battle between the pair is more industry talk than anything else.

He said: "I guess a lot of people in the industry are really focused about that, but we're on tour and we're having a really good time.

"Charting is important to some people but to us it's more about just getting music out there and touring."

At 4pm UK time today (October 13), 'Steal My Girl' was No.2 in the iTunes chart whilst 'Oh Cecilia' was No.16.
