The Vamps' James McVey: 'Being alone doesn't mean I'm lonely'

Guitarist James McVey, of The Vamps fame, has spoken out about the importance of self-confidence and knowing who you truly are before getting into a relationship.

The star posted a black and white self-portrait photograph (shown above left) to his official Instagram page this afternoon and accompanied it with the following insightful statement:

"Being on your own doesn't mean being lonely. Sometimes you need to disconnect from love or people around you to identify what you wish to chase. How can someone make you happy if you don't even know what makes you happy!"

Taylor Swift, who McVey is a huge fan of, also recently shared a similar thought and told Cosmopolitan magazine that while she is currently single she definitely isn't feeling isolated: “People will say, ‘Let me set you up with someone’, and I’m just sitting there saying, ‘That’s not what I’m doing. I’m not lonely; I’m not looking.’ They just don’t get it."

The Vamps, meanwhile, are gearing up to perform at Macy's iconic Thanksgiving Day Parade later this week on Thursday, November 27. The parade itself will travel through New York City in the morning and other performers include Lucy Hale and Meghan Trainor.
