The Vamps on 'boyband' tag: 'We're more of a man band'

'Wild Heart' hitmakers The Vamps have hit out at the pesky boyband tag that follows them around.

During a new interview with the IB Times, the frontman Brad Simpson explained that they don't fit the typical definition because they actually play musical instruments, they don't have dance routines, and they write their own material:

"(We're) a girl band. We're a band of boys, obviously, but I think a boyband is associated with straight up five singers... a vocal group. We're a band. We have a drummer, a lead guitarist, bassist, lead singer and rhythm guitarist."

Heartthrob Tristan Evans confessed that they're definitely not boys anymore and joked that they should be referred to as a man-band, if anything: "We're like more of a man-band because I've got hair on my chest now."
