The Vamps' James shares his school experience from bullying to confidence

Guitarist James McVey, of The Vamps fame, has opened up about his experience of being at school and discussed everything from being bullied to what he would do differently if he could go back.

The heartthrob confessed to Anti Bullying Ambassadors (antibullyingpro.com) that while he was never seriously bullied, he was certainly teased by kids at his school and had to deal with that:

"I was overweight in my younger years, and that didn't help. I was never bullied in a consistent, major way... But that doesn't mean that there weren't certain individuals who didn't pick on me every now and then. I always struggled in physical education, and they would tease me for that."

McVey then gave advice to anyone worried about facing bullying at school and added:

"I think it's important to know that after school ends, you never need to see the bullies again; the likelihood is they will not achieve academically, and probably pick on others for this reason. Always speak to teachers, parents and friends - opening up really helps."

The 'Can We Dance' hitmaker also admitted that if he could go back and experience school all over again, he would be more confident and would take part in more activities:

"I would just put myself forward for more things. I would've been part of the sports team, done more school shows and generally made more of an effort with people and activities. I wish I had put myself out there a little bit more than I did."
