The Vamps' James McVey: 'The cat killer needs to be found'

James McVey from The Vamps urges the public to help find the culprit behind all the cat killings that have been happening recently, after another two cats have been found dead.

McVey told BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat on April 5:

"It's the mutilation I think is particularly horrible, as well as leaving them outside the house or in the garden of the place they used to live.

"In the case yesterday, the cat was decapitated, which was horrible, and it was a 20-year-old cat too. All cats are loving members of the family, but especially a really old cat and quite a vulnerable cat if it was that age."

The South Norwood cat rescue group (Snarl) reports that the killings are not becoming closer together and the area does not just include Croydon.

McVey continued: "I'm a big animal lover, I've done a lot with animal charities and we've got a cat at home, so it's close to home.

"People have done this before and they've gone on to kill people.

"I would encourage people to recognise that this is a person who needs to be found ASAP because it can lead to more severe human harm and I would urge people to be vigilant in the community and do our best with a mutual effort to find the person and people responsible."

McVey has previously spoken about how he can see himself living with ten cats in a decade's time.

PETA, the Animal rights charity, has offered a £5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

More than 50 animals have been killed and many of them have had their tails or heads removed. The latest one is Bertie (seen below).
