The Vamps' James McVey thanks McFly for career help

The Vamps guitarist James McVey has praised McFly's impact on their career after reflecting on the band's rise to fame.

The musician posted on Twitter today (April 19) that his group played their first gig around three years ago.

They supported McFly in Swindon and it seems McVey is grateful for the band's help.

He wrote alongside a picture of the crowd: "Three years ago last night we played our first ever show as The Vamps in Swindon supporting McFly. This was my view.

"Can't thank McFly enough for all they did for us! Forever grateful."

It was confirmed this week meanwhile that The Vamps sold over 100,000 tickets on their latest UK tour.

They recently brought their Wake Up world tour to the country.
