The 2011 X Factor charity single has shot straight to No.1 in the official UK singles chart.

'Wishing On A Star' swatted away competition this evening (December 4) from previous No.1 Rihanna, who dropped to No.3.

The single features this year's budding finalists in fine voice, with the government waiving VAT on the single to ensure the maximum amount of money is generated for charity.

Elsewhere in the singles chart, Olly Murs' 'Dance With Me Tonight' slipped to No.2 whilst Flo Rida moved down one place to No.4 with 'Good Feeling'.

Jessie J meanwhile jumped a staggering 29 places to No.8 with 'Who Are You', ousting the likes of Maroon 5 and Drake, who dropped down the chart.
