Little Mix's 'Cannonball' has worst X Factor sales since 2004

Little Mix may have the UK's No.1 single this week with their cover of Damien Rice's 'Cannonball', but the exciting news has been slightly undermined by the fact that it's had the worst X Factor sales figures since 2004.

The track managed to shift 210,000 copies in its first week and while this number may sound impressive, the only other X Factor winner it managed to outsell is Steve Brookstein, who released 'Against All Odds' 7 years ago and only achieved first-week sales of 128,000 copies.

Shane Ward, who won the talent contest back in '05, did incredibly well with his winning single as it sold 742,000 copies and last year's star, Matt Cardle, managed a respectable figure of 429,000 with 'When We Collide'.

The popularity of their single hasn't deterred their spirits as they tweeted a message to their followers this morning, December 19, that read:

"WOW we still can't believe #Cannonball is at number 1! This is so amazing! Merry X Mas yous Little Mixers!"
