Earth Day Song Brings Together International Collaboration of Artists

On the 22 April, The New Roots Project, a group of environmentally conscious musicians, spearheaded by some prominent artists from the 80s and 90s, as well as young up and coming talent, will launch their song ‘One World’.

The aim of the project is to promote environmental awareness and to help raise funds to plant trees in under- privileged areas of South Africa. A virtual reality 360 music video will also be released on the same day and all proceeds will be channeled to the NGO - Food and Trees for Africa.

The song will be the opening track of an album currently in the works, called Earth Songs. In addition, New Roots plans to take the show on the road in June to perform at schools throughout the country with a valuable environmental message designed to sensitize the next generation to the potential issues they may face.

A website is being set up where companies and individuals who would like to donate their talents, time and money will be able to interact. Companies will also be encouraged to donate to the cause as Trees for Africa is SED approved and valuable BEE points will be available. All trees planted will be cared for and will have a certificate with the donor’s name on it. http://www.trees.co.za/support/plant-trees.html

Some of the members of New Roots Project include Chris Frank, (Cinema), Keith McFarlane (Face to Face), Solam Jali (an American Zulu), Andy Innes (Johnny Clegg), Stuart Irving (Ballyhoo, Alter Irving) and some young artists from Stageworx Performing Arts School.
