Grammy Awards 2011 round up

Country ruled at last night’s Grammys in Los Angeles with Lady Antebellum scooping an impressive five awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. But it was Arcade Fire who took the big prize, and beat out the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Eminem to win Album of the Year for ‘The Suburbs.’

Best new act went to jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding who was up against Justin Bieber, Drake, Mumford & Sons and Florence & The Machine. 

Brit acts flew the flag with La Roux winning Best Dance/Electronic album, Iron Maiden taking Best Metal Performance for ‘El Dorado’ and Muse walking away with Best Rock Album.

Performances on the night were as impressive as always, and included collaborations between Cee Lo Green, Gwyneth Paltrow and some Muppets, Raphael Saadiq and Mick Jagger, Bruno Mars, B.O.B and Janelle Monae, Eminem and Dr Dre and Justin Bieber, Usher and Jaden Smith, while Gaga belted out ‘Born This Way’ live on TV for the first time.
