‘X Factor’ USA breaks audition record

The first round of auditions for the US version of ‘The X Factor’ were held yesterday in Los Angeles and drew record crowds.

According to producers, more than 18,000 hopefuls were waiting outside the LA Sports Center when it opened at 9am on Sunday with more arriving by the minute.

"There are still people walking through the gates and we're so excited about it," executive producer Rob Wade told DigitalSpy.com from the venue.

"I don't know what the final figure is, but it's the largest singing audition in LA... That's not bad for a new show, is it?" he added.

‘The X Factor’ premieres this fall on FOX, and so far Simon Cowell and record executive and producer LA Reid are the only judges to be officially announced.
