U2 top Forbes magazine's music's rich list

Irish rockers U2 have topped a prestigious list of the highest-earning musicians over the past year.

The ranking, which was compiled by wealth magazine Forbes, exposes the top 25 richest stars of music and the 'Elevation' singers are sitting pretty at the top for the second year running.

According to the publication, U2 have earned over $195 million and a large portion of their fortune is due to the continued success of their 2-year 360 world tour. 

Bon Jovi are just behind at No.2 with their impressive yearly earnings of $125 million and Sir Elton John took third place after taking home an incredible $100 million. 

The top ten highest-earning artists of the past year, as confirmed by Forbes, are as follows:

1. U2: $195 million (£121 million)
2. Bon Jovi: $125 million (£78 million)
3. Elton John: $100 million (£62 million)
4. Lady Gaga: $90 million (£56 million)
5. Michael Buble: $70 million (£43 million)
6. Paul McCartney: $67 million (£41 million)
7. The Black Eyed Peas: $61 million (£38 million)
8. The Eagles: $60 million (£37 million)
9. Justin Bieber: $53 million (£33 million)
10. Dave Matthews Band: $51 million (£31 million)
