Union J say they will be involved in songwriting process for next album

Union J have confirmed that they will write songs for their next album.

The former X Factor hopefuls released their debut self-titled collection last year and Jaymi Hensley revealed to Digital Spy that they penned some tracks for the effort - but they weren't included on the final cut.

However, this hasn't put off the quartet from working on songs for their follow-up record. Hensley said:

"We are going to write on album two, we are going to work with some great songwriters and we will get involved in the writing process. We did write for this album and we'd done about 14 songs but they didn't go on the album, maybe because they weren't right. The thing about writing is it's personal but also the more practice you get, the better you get.  We've been through more experiences now and we know more about sound."

Josh Cuthbert added: "We're working with some amazing producers and writers so we wanted the first album to learn from things and hopefully on the second and third albums we will grow."

The band meanwhile recently commented on how people expected the group to be as successful as One Direction due to their X Factor background.

However, they said: "Everyone thought we were going to be the second One Direction in a minute because we were another boyband from the show. But they didn’t get as famous as they are until the first year and a half through their career. It’s a hard industry yet last year we were able to travel up and down the country on tour and had the best time."
