Union J to X Factor critics: 'You can't argue with One Direction and Ella Henderson'

Union J star Jaymi Hensley says those critical of the X Factor only need to look at its success stories to see how worthwhile it is.

The boyband found fame on the TV talent show in 2012 before releasing their debut album a year later.

Speaking to Digital Spy, singer Hensley said that acts like One Direction - who have achieved global success - prove that the X Factor is a valuable tool for finding new talent.

Speaking about the popularity of fellow alumni Ella Henderson's chart-topping single 'Ghost', he said:

"For someone who came sixth on the X Factor to be one of this year's biggest-selling artists is incredible. She's amazing. We're so proud.

"People always put two fingers up to X Factor and say it's s**t, but you can't argue with One Direction, Ella and people like that."

Union J meanwhile are expected to release their second album later this year.
