SLAVES GUITARIST, LAURIE VINCENT ANNOUNCES FIRST SOLO GALLERY ART EXHIBITION AND SALE

AT WORLDS LARGEST ARTS FESTIVALTHE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE

SHOWING 4 - 17TH AUGUST - (PRIVATE VIEW 4TH)

Laurie Vincent, guitarist and one half of primal rock duo Slaves, is proud to announce the first official solo gallery showing of his artwork at Flaubert Gallery during Edinburgh Festival Fringe, opening on 4th August.

"This exhibition will be a collection of work since I started painting. Including brand new unseen pieces and some collaborative paintings I did with my studio partner Daisy Paris. It's my first gallery show in Edinburgh, one of my favourite cities” Vincent says.

This will be the first time the rising artists work has been on public sale.

Drawing and painting from a very young age, Laurie has gone on to develop a distinctive style.  Inspired by the post-modernism of Warhol, the street art of Basquiat, the expressive, political work of Keith Haring and the anarchic, DIY ethos of Raymond Pettibon, Laurie’s art has been adorning Slaves flyers and releases since the band formed, being the creative vision behind all of the bands striking artwork.

This first gallery exhibition comes after his successful debut solo pop-up show at Londons Amersham Arms earlier this year, and a recent group showing at London’s W hotel in Leicester Square. Last year Vincent exhibited as part of a group showing alongside members of Genghar, Alt-J and Bombay Bicycle Club, who each displayed their own art at Hackney Downs Studios.

Slaves are one of the most exciting bands in the UK right now. Their debut album, ‘Are You Satisfied?’ smashed into the UK top ten on it’s release, earned them various award nods (including Mercury Prize Nomination, a Kerrang! Award and an NME Award) and led them to headline their biggest ever show at Brixton Academy last December and become one of the UK’s most in demand live acts. They’ve recently collaborated with Chase & Status on their single ‘Control’ and are working on new material for their second album.

The showing includes a private view on 4th August at 6-9pm and will be open to the public 5-17th August onwards at Flaubery Gallery, 74 St Stephen St, Stockbridge Edinburgh.
