Originally from Gorizia, Italy, George Gio started taking singing and dancing lessons at 18. In 2004 he moved to Bologna where he graduated from the Bernstein School of Musical Theatre in 2007. After graduation he worked in several theatre production including musical theatre and opera. At the same time he started writing his own material and entered singing competitions all around the nation.

In Bologna George was the lead singer of the band Under Construction, the acoustic duo Esho Funi and collaborated with Sky Theory for dance music productions as singer and writer. Having always sung and written his own material in English, in 2012 he decided to move to London to push his career further.
Here he kept working in theatre productions (plays, musical theatre and physical theatre) performing also in Camden, Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. George started collaborating with the pianist Urszula Lahdeaho on an acoustic set of his own songs and covers and entered the competition Open Mic UK as So Soul Boy.

Towards the end of 2015 George started recording his first EP “Here and now” at Hilltop Recording Studios with the producer David Ezra, changing his sound completely from acoustic to electronic pop music which incorporates all of his influences like soul, r’n’b, and dance music and changing also his artistic name to George Gio.
