Strength NIA are an unorthodox band from Derry, Northern Ireland. Led by singer Rory Moore their experimental, Alt Indie-Pop is centred around bass lines, percussion, wild shouts and powerful vocals. Brought together by old drum machines, string machines and organs, they create pop songs that are born out of the idea of writing the first pop songs in the world again on primitive, obsolete technology. The resulting music nod’s to the past in a familiar way, but is also modern, futuristic and catchy.

Strength NIA have a classic approach to song writing which harks back to artists like Lee Hazelwood, Scott Walker & The Crazy world of Arthur Brown- but with a sharp contemporary, lyrical edge. Their new single La Floresta is the result of Rory’s obsession with big band era razzmatazz mixed with a crooning narrative that addresses the cruelty of modern dairy farming. On a more base level La Floresta is also a seriously groovy track.

Rory: ’Song writing is a curious art form, I try to create work that is interesting to me, though most music is derivative I find satisfaction with combining narrative angles with audacious grooves.’

In 2016 they played Celtronic ,The hard working class hero’s festival in Dublin, as well as completing two Irish tours. Strength have featured in Hot Press, the Thin Air, State and the Irish Mirror. They have received extensive air time on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Foyle, BBC Radio Ulster, 2FM & RTE's An-taobh-tuathail. Strength NIA will release their next single in February followed by a UK and Irish tour. Strength NIA will release their debut album in Autumn 2017.

2016 releases: N.Ireland Yes (7”) & 1956 Olympics, December 2016. (with all proceeds going to the Aboriginal literacy foundation in Australia.)
