Black Eyed Peas man has revealed that he often conjures up melodies and song ideas in his sleep.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the star said that he sometimes gets inspiration for music whilst in the throes of slumber, before waking up and recording the hook.

And he revealed that their track 'I Gotta Feeling' stemmed from mumbles and overheard conversation in the background. He said:

"I've written songs right from a sleep. Have you ever had a dream where there's a melody in your dream? I'll wake up out of my sleep and record that!"

He then added: "'I Gotta Feeling' was one of those songs. From a random mumble, listening to conversations in the back and making sense of melodies."
