Will Young's debut release has been named as the top selling single of the 21st Century in Britain.

Young released the single 'Anything Is Possible/Evergreen' back in 2002 and it has so far chalked up almost 1.8m sales, according to the Official Charts Company.

Adele - who else - comes in at No.2 on the list with her single 'Someone Like You', which only came out in 2011.

Will Young's Pop Idol sparring partner Gareth Gates meanwhile lands at No.3 on the list, with his track 'Unchained Melody' selling some 1,342,000 copies.

Elsewhere on the list, there are high entries for the likes of Black Eyed Peas and Shaggy, whilst Band Aid 20's 'Do They Know It's Christmas' lands on the list at No.10.
