“A livewire performance full of nervy banter” - 4/5 The Times

“Right now The Futureheads look like a band who have finally found themselves”– 4/5 Evening Standard

It's an ingenious feat to turn their own riffy, jerky songs into frantic, Mackem-accented four-part vocals... The skill is remarkable, and ‘Rant’ is never less than impressive.” - Mail on Sunday

“Glorious indeed” - 8/10 NME

Following the release of their critically acclaimed a cappella album 'Rant' and a wealth of UK shows and festival dates, The Futureheads have announced that they’ll be releasing an acoustic version of ‘The Beginning of the Twist’ on15th October through Nul Records. Originally featured on ‘This is Not the World’  in 2008,‘The Beginning of the Twist’ is a firm favourite amongst fans and this Eastern European-tinged rendition has gone on to become one of highlights of their stunningly versatile and witty a cappella and acoustic show.

The first track from the set to be released that doesn’t feature on ‘Rant’, it most recently raised the canvas roof of the Festival Republic stage at this year’s Reading & Leeds Festival inspiring pogoing gypsy-punk moves from the crowd and is set to do the same at the band’s upcoming shows this month.

The Futureheads are set to play an a cappella & acoustic headline show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on September 19th, where they will be supported by Mercury Prize nominees Sweet Billy Pilgrim. They also have a cappella dates in Belfast and Dublin and close their very own Split Festivalalongside the likes of Pulled Apart By HorsesSaint Etienne and PiL, fronted by British punk icon John Lydon

Following this legendary addition to Split Festival’s line-up, Barry Hyde had this to say:

Finalising the line up for Split this year has been a challenge to say the least, we’ve had some dead ends and red herrings, long shots and near misses, but finally we’ve managed to get a band we would never have even dreamed of. Split is bringing a Sex Pistol to Sunderland, THE Sex Pistol! It’s a punk rock miracle and we are very excited.”
