Zayn Malik has spoken for the first time about his relationship with Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards.

Malik and Edwards ended their engagement in August 2015 and rumours circulated that Zayn terminated his relationship with Perrie by sending her a text message.

Zayn refuted this claim in an exclusive solo interview with The Fader. 

He stated: “I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message. I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that.”

Whilst the former One Direction star was keen to clear up that particular rumour, he refrained from revealing any more details about his ex and the circumstances surrounding their split:

“I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”

Perrie Edwards recently denied that a new Little Mix song about regrettable ex-boyfriends, titled ‘Hair’, was written about her famous former fiancé.
