'Pillowtalk' sensation Zayn Malik has revealed that he has been really surprised by the warm reception his solo material has received so far. 

Speaking to Beats 1 this week, the heartthrob admitted that he never expected global attention so he is very grateful and excited: "It was really surprising to me. I kind of didn't set out with the intention to be as successful as it was."

Malik continued: "When it did well I was surprising myself. With each thing I'm putting out I feel more confident and it gives me new ideas. I just take everything one step at a time."

He also addressed the unusual style used on his tracklisting, which sees capital letters and lowercase letters mixed at random (pictured below) and admitted that some people are liking it while others aren't so sure: "We're getting mixed response with that. I like the way it looks so I just went with it but people are confused by it."
