Zayn Malik axes Summertime Ball performance at the last minute

Singer Zayn Malik was meant to take the stage at London's Wembley Stadium tonight (June 11) for Capital FM's Summertime Ball, but he axed his performance at the last minute citing "anxiety" as the reason.

The 'Pillowtalk' heartthrob shared an extensive message on his Twitter page, which can be read in full below, and he apologised for having to call off his set with such short notice.

Malik adds that his struggles with anxiety have grown worse lately and there was no way he could have performed.

The star, meanwhile, recently confirmed details of a solo performance at the Autism Rocks Arena in Dubai on October 7. Promoter Thomas Ovesen told Gulf News that it's expected to be an amazing show:

"I haven’t attended the rehearsals. I just know, based on the budget that we are putting aside for the production, that it will be a fantastic show. I myself will probably not get a full idea of the visuals and the set-up until a few months before the show."

"We’ve been talking to his people solidly, I would say, for at least the last six months about when he would be able to do any live shows. It’s been in the making for quite some time."
