Adam Lambert crowned Twitter's Must Follow Artist at MTV's OMAs

Singing superstar Adam Lambert was crowned Twitter's Must Follow Artist at MTV's O Music Awards last night, October 31.

The 'Whataya Want From Me' hitmaker faced tough competition from some of the most influential celebrities on Twitter including Cher, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, but rose above them to take home the impressive title and tweeted a message of thanks to his devoted fans and loyal supporters:

"Wow! Won @MTV Must Follow Artist on Twitter! http://omusicawards.com only thanks to all of YOU! Thanks!!! The support means so much! #MTVOMA"

Joe Jonas was another winner at the interactive ceremony as he picked up the Best Lyrics Video prize for his solo single, 'See No More', and his former girlfriend Demi Lovato also came up trumps in the slightly more offbeat category of Best Artist With a Camera Phone.

Lambert is an artist who really understands the power of social media and utilises it to benefit both his career and the charities he works with and promotes.

You can watch a recent interview with him, in which he talks about the importance of equality, below:
