Adam Lambert on being an 'American Idol' judge: 'I tried to be sensitive'

Hitmaker Adam Lambert has revealed that standing in as a judge on 'American Idol' was an amazing experience, but a tough one because he knows what it's like to stand in front of a panel of famous people and sing to them.

Speaking exclusively to Ryan Seacrest this morning, the superstar admitted that as a previous contestant he knows how stressful it is to audition and he's trying to be as sensitive to that as possible while still giving constructive and useful criticism:

"Whenever I watch the show, this [judging] is the part that [is] sometimes hard to watch because I feel so bad for the kids that come in there and don’t cut it, and their dreams are crushed in that moment."

The 'Trespassing' sensation added: "So I’ve been trying to be sensitive to that, but you know, you got to be honest. And I also think that this is people’s livelihood and I think that if you can just give them some advice — even if they don’t make it through — maybe they can get better in the future.”

In the same interview, Lambert also opened up about his highly anticipated new album and confessed that it's moving along nicely, and he was recently signed to a new label:

“I’m not going to say too much because I try to keep things under wraps. I’m working on this album, I’m really excited about it. I got signed to another label, which I’m not going to reveal right now, but it’s a really good deal and it’s a good project. I’m working with an amazing executive producer. Again, I can’t say too much, but it’s going to be really good.”
