Adam Lambert opens up about 'American Idol' cancellation

It was confirmed today (May 11) that 'American Idol' will end next year and former finalist Adam Lambert has given his opinion on the sad news.

The show's producers made the announcement this morning and Lambert, who recently returned to the panel as a guest judge, told Billboard magazine that it will be sad to see it come to an end: "They had a great run and thank you, 'Idol', because I wouldn’t be here without you."

The 'Ghost Town' sensation stepped in to replace judge Keith Urban last year and Harry Connick Jr. praised his abilities to coach and advise contestants: "He was terrific, and having the perspective of someone who has been a contestant was really unique. It was so unfortunate, the circumstances having Keith not being there, but you couldn’t find a better replacement for him. Those shows were exciting. It was really cool."

Lambert, meanwhile, is currently single and recently opened up about what he's attracted to in a partner: "I usually go for guys that are a little bit younger than me because I’m an old man these days. Like mid-twenties usually. That’s good. Pretty.”
