Adam Lambert on Queen: 'They give me so much freedom with the material'

'Ghost Town' sensation Adam Lambert has opened up about touring as the frontman with Queen and revealed that the one thing that surprised him the most was how much artistic license the other members of the iconic band let him have with the songs.

During an interview with the Toronto Sun, the superstar explained that guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor were so confident in his ability to perform the band's well-loved hits:

"(I was the most surprised about) how much leeway they gave me. I had so much freedom within the material and I got their blessing early on. I’d be, ‘Is this okay?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah it sounds great.’ Like, ‘Adam you don’t need to ask us, just sing it.’ They’re really cool with me. It was more of a collaboration than I expected it to be."

When asked if he sees an end to his collaboration with Queen, Lambert added: "No. We have a great time together and I think at the end of the day, we love getting onstage and feeling victorious. And feeling like we’ve given the audience a great show and it went well. And that’s the universal idea there. And the shows were so well received and the audiences were so thrilled and up on their feet at every show, I think we knew that we had stumbled onto something really special and why not keep doing it."
