Reasons why Adam Lambert will be a fantastic judge on The X Factor

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Adam Lambert will join Iggy Azalea and Guy Sebastian as a judge on The X Factor in Australia and we've rounded up a selection of quotes that show why he's a great choice for the role.

In a press release about the exciting news, the 'Ghost Town' sensation explained that he's really looking forward to this new chapter in his career:

"I am very excited to join X Factor in Australia and am looking forward to helping people shine their brightest. Australia has always been one of my favourite places to tour. The Aussies I’ve met are so kind and good humoured - so the thought of getting to live in Sydney is very exciting."

In 2012, he told the Associated Press that shows such as The Voice and The X Factor are great because they 'give people a platform' that isn't there otherwise:

"I think that it's great that there are shows out there giving people that platform. It's really difficult to make it in the music industry. These shows are great because they show what the person is capable of and their journey and process of becoming an artist."

Lambert also confessed that he never felt as if he was being controlled during his time on American Idol and told The Guardian newspaper that the support and creativity available was fantastic:

"There was a lot of help involved, and there were a lot of songwriters involved, but I was making decisions: I like that song or I don't like that song. I wasn't being told what to do every step. I wasn't being controlled in that manner on the show, either."

The star also took time out from his schedule in 2014 to take part in a special American Idol workshop, which he hosted with Chris Daughtry, and Randy Jackson explained that he asked Lambert to take part because he's such a great role model:

"I wanted to have them [return to mentor]. They were actually in the trenches as people we were judging...and they can tell it from a completely different side. The two of them are so different, but they are also so equally, really, really talented. Both of their seasons, I thought both of them would win."

In 2015, Lambert returned to Idol as a guest judge while Keith Urban was away and panelist Harry Connick Jr praised his abilities as a judge and mentor:

"He was terrific, and having the perspective of someone who has been a contestant was really unique. It was so unfortunate, the circumstances having Keith not being there, but you couldn’t find a better replacement for him. Those shows were exciting. It was really cool."
