Adam Lambert explains 'Aftermath'

Adam Lambert spoke to Ryan Seacrest this morning, March 9, about his forthcoming performance on American Idol.

He will return to the talent show's stage this week to sing a stripped down version of 'Aftermath' and said of the track:

"it's a song that's on my album, and it's a song that I wrote. It's an empowerment anthem, that hopefully inspires people to kind of take risks of being who they are and being honest with themselves and people they love."

"Taking that leap of faith, whatever it may be, and when doing so at the other end of it you feel kind of a liberation."

He also revealed that he's started writing for his second album, and said of its potential direction:

"it definitely has a rock edge, but it's very upbeat. It's very honest."
