Adam Lambert has spoken out in praise of today's TV talent shows such as the X Factor and The Voice.

Lambert of course made a name for himself after appearing on American Idol, and speaking to the Associated Press, the vocal powerhouse said that they are invaluable for giving people a chance to make it in the music business.

However, he warned that the leap from TV to the actual music industry is tougher than some people may realise. He said:

"I think that it's great that there are shows out there giving people that platform. It's really difficult to make it in the music industry. These shows are great because they show what the person is capable of and their journey and process of becoming an artist."

He continued: "I think the difficult thing is the transition between TV competition series and going into the actual music industry. There still seems to be a slight disconnect there. Hopefully, they're fixing that."
