Queen and Adam Lambert win Best Live Act of 2012 honour

Queen and Adam Lambert have been named as this year's best live act by Gigwise.

The website ran a poll to find 2012's top concert experience and fans have voted in their numbers for Queen and Adam Lambert.

The group played a number of shows this summer with the vocal powerhouse on lead vocals, including a batch of dates at London's Hammersmith Apollo.

The shows earned rave reviews and many commented on how well Lambert fitted into the group in the absence of late singer Freddie Mercury.

Speaking after the shows, Lambert said:

"It was such a tremendous honor to take the stage with Rock and Roll royalty earlier this year. Brian May and Roger Taylor are true gentleman who inspired magical moments onstage and off."

He continued: "In paying deep respect to the late, great Freddie Mercury, I feel I have evolved into a better artist. Thank you to all the fans who supported me in this venture. It was your fervent energy that fanned the flames and set the stage on fire!"

The Killers and Muse landed at No.2 and No.3 respectively on the poll.
