'Never Close Our Eyes' superstar Adam Lambert recently called for fans to donate money to a charitable organisation to celebrate his birthday and this morning (January 31) it was announced that $41,000 had been reached.

Followers of the vocal sensation have been sending in money to the We Are Family Foundation, which then distributes raised funds to "directly support We Are Family Foundation's initiatives that empower youth around the globe to help make the world a better place".

Although a new update on the total is yet to be shared, Lambert has been soundchecking (pictured below) for the foundation's charity Gaga, which takes place later tonight, and will also feature live performances from Nile Rodgers and Sam Sparro.

Glamberts can follow the unfolding of tonight's Gala, which is being held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, by using the Twitter hashtag "wearefamily".
