Adam Lambert has parted ways with his record company RCA citing “creative differences”.

Earlier this week it was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that RCA was pushing Lambert to record an album of covers as his next project, an idea that had Glamberts worldwide taking to social media in protest.

Despite a rep’s recent claims that direction on his next album hadn’t been decided, in a letter written to THR Lambert confirmed that he was indeed being pushed into an 80s cover album by the company and decided that he would take his creativity elsewhere.

The announcement follows the news from earlier this year that Lambert left RCA offshoot 19 Recordings.

“Over the past four years, I have been truly fortunate to work with an amazing roster of producers, writers and engineers,” wrote Lambert. “Thanks to them, I have grown as both a songwriter and a vocalist. Artistically & professionally, I think it is essential that I continue with this evolution.”

Though Lambert has been keeping mum on the sound of his new album, he did tease a few extra details in the letter, saying: “I am already deep into writing new material with some very talented colleagues for a brand new album, and I can't tell you how excited I am to share this new sound & direction. This music is where my heart is, and I believe that is what my fans want to hear.

“So after careful consideration, I have made the decision to respectfully part ways with RCA,” he said. “My passion for the music & respect for the fans will always come first. I am excited to find a new label team who shares this vision.”
