Adam Lambert: "I like to be involved in as many LGBT activism groups as possible"

Adam Lambert says he wants to be part of as many "LGBT activism groups as possible".

The singer made the statement when appearing at the The Trevor Project's TrevorLive event in Los Angeles on Sunday (December 8).

The night brought together "top entertainers and corporate leaders to support Trevor’s life-saving, life-affirming work for LGBTQ youth in crisis".

He said in a red carpet interview that he wants to support not only The Trevor Project, but as many LGBT groups as possible.

"The Trevor Project is dealing with kids that are kind of at the end of the road. I like to be involved in as many different LGBT activism groups as possible because I think there's different stages and different ways to reach out."

Lambert continued: "Something like The Trevor Project is vitally important. Some of these kids that are at this point don't have anywhere else to turn. We're talking about a life or death situation here. It's more than just bringing awareness to something - it's really saving lives."

The vocal powerhouse meanwhile performed alongside American Idol music director Michael Orland to play his track 'Whataya Want From Me' at the event.

The Trevor Project was founded in the US in 1998 and is the 'leading national organisation focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth'.
