Adele has revealed a snippet of new music through a TV advert.

Fans were surprised after a 30-second clip played during an ad break on the X Factor on ITV on Sunday (October 18).

The mysterious snippet simply played a few bars of music, with lyrics showing on screen. It ended with some ellipses.

The lyrics read: "Hello, it’s me / I was wondering if after all these years / you’d like to meet to go over everything / they say that time’s supposed to heal ya / but I ain’t done much healing..."

Adele's last album '21' was released in 2011.

Fans have been waiting patiently for a new record following the birth of the singer's first child in 2012.

The TV advert is the closest indication yet that the Brit is on the cusp of releasing a new album.

Adele's last record - her second - is one of the best-selling albums ever in the UK and the US.
