Adele fans complain of data breach in ticket sale

Fans attempting to buy tickets in an Adele tour pre-sale have claimed they saw credit card details of other users.

An early sale for the singer's 2016 UK tour took place today (December 1) for users of her official website.

However, many fans complained of being unable to access the sale, which was co-ordinated by Songkick.

Some fans told the BBC that they were offered other people's tickets and saw their personal information.

Kiran Farmah from Birmingham said she was offered tickets for Adele's Glasgow shows.

The fan added: "I got through to buying tickets but it came up with someone else's screen with their card details and home address for SSE."

Songkick denied that personal details such as card numbers were made public to other fans.

They said: "Due to extreme load experienced this morning, some of our customers were incorrectly able to preview limited account information belonging to other customers.

"There's no evidence that this included credit card numbers or passwords. We take the privacy of our users very seriously, and we're looking further into the matter to ensure it doesn't happen again."

Tickets for the tour, which is taking place in February and March across cities such as London and Manchester, are due to go on general sale from Friday.

The shows come in support of Adele's record-breaking third album '25'.
