Adele struggled to write '25': 'I wasn't sad, which made it harder'

Vocal powerhouse Adele has confessed that she found writing '25' to be quite challenging because she was in such a great headspace it was hard to find inspiration to draw from.

Speaking to Matt Lauer this week, the 'Hello' sensation admitted that it's amazing to be so happy and content, but that didn't necessarily translate into writing great song lyrics and content for her latest album:

"I've never been happier... And I've never been healthier. So I'm good. I found it impossible for a while."

"I didn't know what I wanted to write about. ... What's wrong is I wasn't sad."

Referring to her smash-hit single 'Hello', Adele added: "'Hello' is just about reconnecting with everyone else and myself. From the other side, I couldn't get over my guilt of leaving my kid to go and write a record and stuff like that. So [it's] getting over that—getting on the other side of that. It was just, you know, it's in general, just hello to everyone."
