Adele misses out on prestigious songwriting nomination

Eyebrows have been raised after Adele has seemingly been ignored and missed out on being nominated for this year's Ivor Novello Awards.

The prestigious music industry event celebrates British songwriting and is set to be held in London on May 19 at Grosvenor House in Park Lane, Mayfair.

However, Adele - who released her third album '25' last year - hasn't been nominated, which will surely leave tongues wagging, seeing her record sold millions upon release and became a global hit, with both Adele and Ed Sheeran being named the most popular global recording artists of last year.

The singer-songwriter also topped the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's annual rundown after selling over 15 million copies of her third album '25'.

Her lead track 'Hello' has gone down in history as the quickest video to reach one billion views on YouTube.

Yet instead, acts like Ed Sheeran, James Bay and Skepta have all landed nods for the awards.

The four music categories in the awards are Best Song Musically and Lyrically prize, Best Contemporary Song, PRS for Music Most Performed Work and Album.
