NFL denies asking Adele to perform at next year's Super Bowl half-time show

NFL says it didn't ask Adele to play at next year's Super Bowl half-time show.

The singer told fans at a recent Los Angeles gig that she turned down the chance to perform at the high-profile event.

She said in light of continued speculation: "First of all, I'm not doing the Super Bowl.

"I mean, that show is not about music. I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no."

However, organiser NFL and sponsor Pepsi said in a statement that they didn't formally ask Adele to perform at the 2017 show in Houston.

They said: "The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show.

"However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time."

Last year saw Coldplay perform the half-time slot, which enjoys a US TV audience of over 110 million.
