22-year-old singing sensation Adele admitted that she was completely overwhelmed when her idol Beyoncé compared her to God.

Adele says that she is a huge fan of the ‘Single Ladies’ singer and that a recent encounter with her was the “highlight of my life”.

Speaking to Q Magazine, Adele recalled the meeting at a 2010 Sony Grammy party: "She went, 'Adele' and I went, 'Uh Beyoncé!' And then Jay-Z went, 'Adele! I was like, 'You can't both call me Adele!'

"I was like, 'Can I have a picture?' and Beyoncé said, 'Can I have a picture with you?' "

Beyoncé then dropped  bombshell of a compliment on the young Brit: "When I listen to you, I feel like I'm listening to God."

Adele added: "I heard it but I was like, 'Don't let her know you've heard it.'

"I ran out on the balcony and fell into her security's arms, going, 'She's so nice!' And literally collapsed. Sobbing my heart out, it was like being winded. Highlight of my life, ever."
