Adele dominates 2011 best selling album list

Adele's domination over the UK music landscape has been further reiterated after it was revealed that her two albums were the best selling releases of 2011.

Her second album '21', released in January, has sold a massive 3.4m copies, whilst her debut '19' has shipped 1.1m units so far, according to the Official Charts Company.

In third place is Bruno Mars' 'Doo Wops & Hooligans', with Rihanna's 'Loud' following closely.

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' has shipped some 689,000 copies this year to land at No.5 on the list, over 200,000 more than Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto', which rests at No.10.

The full list of the top ten best selling albums in the UK in 2011 is as follows:

1. Adele – '21' (3.4m copies sold)
2. Adele – '19' (1.1m)
3. Bruno Mars – 'Doo Wops & Hooligans' (976,000)
4. Rihanna – 'Loud' (812,000)
5. Lady Gaga – 'Born This Way' (689,000)
6. Jessie J – 'Who You Are' (660,000)
7. Michael Bublé – 'Christmas' (496,000)
8. Cee Lo Green – 'The Lady Killer' (485,000)
9. Ed Sheeran – '+' (477,000)
10. Coldplay – 'Mylo Xyloto' (467,000)
