Adele's '21' achieves biggest sales jump in SoundScan history

Adele's record-breaking album '21' has earned the biggest sales jump in SoundScan history.

Billboard.com reports that her sophomore offering, which was named British Album of the Year at the 2012 BRIT Awards on February 21, achieved the largest weekly unit gain of any album since Neilsen SoundScan launched in 1991.

'21' has sold a phenomenal 493,000 copies over the past 7 days - taking it from 237,000 copies last week to a staggering 730,000 this week.

Her recent 6 wins at the GRAMMY Awards would have undoubtedly helped boost sales figures and she also made headlines since appearing on the BRITs as her acceptance speech for Album of the Year was both interrupted and cut short to make way for Blur's 11-minute live set, which caused her to give the finger to the ceremony's bosses
