Adele becomes first artist ever to go double platinum on U.S. iTunes

2012 has already been an incredibly successful year for British singer-songwriter Adele, but she now has another impressive accolade to add to her list.

As if winning 6 GRAMMYs and 2 BRITs wasn't enough, the 'Someone Like You' hitmaker has now become the first artist ever to go double platinum on iTunes in the USA.

Her sophomore record '21', which was crowned British Album of the Year on Tuesday (February 21) at the 2012 BRIT Awards, has now shifted over 2 million copies via the Stateside branch of the popular digital retailer taking her total American sales of the album to more than 7 million.

She is also currently celebrating her 21st week at No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart with '21', which makes it the longest running No.1 by a female artist in Billboard history.
