Adele's '21' leapfrogs Michael Jackson in all-time top selling album list

Adele's '21' has overtaken Michael Jackson's 'Bad' in the list of the all-time top selling albums in UK.

After making the leap, '21' is now the eighth best selling album ever in the country with 4.02m units shifted, according to the Official Charts Company.

The album usurped Jackson's 'Bad', which has only managed to sell a mere 3,959,000 copies so far.

Adele however still has a long way to go to impact upon the upper echelons of the list, with a number of high-profile albums sitting pretty at the top.

The biggest selling album in the UK ever is Queen's 'Greatest Hits' with 5,863,000 copies sold, whilst the Beatles' 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' rests in second place.

Despite losing out to Adele this time round, Michael Jackson meanwhile still has another album in the top ten - 'Thriller', which sits at No.5 on the list with sales of 4,248,000.
