Adele eligible for Oscar gong

British songstress Adele is among the artists in contention for an Oscar nod after her song for Bond movie 'Skyfall' was recently deemed eligible for a nomination.

The track - which was co-written by Paul Epworth - was originally feared to be snubbed by the prestigious film awards because it included parts of the infamous 007 theme tune.

However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences's music department have deemed the song suitable to stand in the Original Song category for the 85th Academy Awards.

The list of potential nominees include seventy-five songs from feature-length motion pictures, and the Oscar nominations will be officially announced on February 24.

Katy Perry's 'Wide Awake', which featured in her autobiographical movie 'Part Of Me' also made the list.

Other songs eligible for a nomination include Keith Urban's 'For You' from 'Act of Valor' and Mumford & Sons, who collaborated with Birdy for 'Learn Me Right' from 'Brave'.

'Suddenly' from Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of 'Les Misérables' is also included on the extensive list.
