A ten-minute-long pilot extract from Kanye West and Rhymefest's unsuccessful 2008 live action puppet show, 'Alligator Boots', surfaced online this week and was quickly withdrawn.

The pilot featured Pete Wentz and Kim Kardashian dressed as Princess Leia from 'Star Wars'.

The Comedy Central producers described the show as a 'hip hop Muppet show'. In the pilot a baby puppet hits West repeatedly with a rattle and there's a bizarre rapping puppet pig character named Pork Troy. The puppets created by The Jim Henson Company flirt with Kardashian almost inappropiately.

The footage was taken down from YouTube by Viacom, the owners of Comedy Central.

John Mayer cancels gigs and new album due to illness

John Mayer has been forced to cancel two gigs and postpone the release of his new album because of ill health.

He announced that a planned gig in Los Angeles with Tony Bennett and a second date in Las Vegas next weekend had been axed due to the discovery of an inflamed nodule of tissue near his vocal chords.

The heartthrob wrote on Tumblr, "I'm bummed to have to bow out. I know there were people depending on me to be there and I'm sorry that I can't be on those stages."

He added that his fifth studio LP, 'Born And Raised' would be postponed until late next year due to his vocal issues.

"(The album) is complete as far as music recording, song selection and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn't finish singing on several of the tracks. This is a temporary setback, though I'm not sure how long or short a period of time it will be. I've got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear."

Gary Numan on "violent" Britain and Aspergers

80s synth star, Gary Numan, has decided to leave the UK for America.

His wife, Gemma, and their young children were recently confronted by a group of thugs in the middle of rural Sussex, causing Numan to worry about their safety:

"Gemma and the girls were in the local High Street and encountered a gang of boys aged between 12 and 14. The boys surrounded them and shouted obscenities about what they wanted to do to Gemma. They didn't care that she was with the children, who were scared and upset. I was furious when I heard about it. We're in the middle of the countryside so you'd think it would be the most peaceful place on Earth, but even in the quietest places, you can't avoid thugs."

Numan is now contemplating a new life in Santa Monica, California:

"I've always considered myself to be fiercely patriotic. I love Britain, its history and the down-to-earth attitude people have. Until recently, I'd never have entertained the thought of leaving, even though Gemma has wanted to move to the US for a long time."

Numan became hugely famous in the 1980's at the height of the electro New Romantic era. He was known for his moodiness on stage, singing songs such as 'Cars' and 'Are Friends Electric'. However, there were some underlying reasons for this.

Numan explains: "I never smiled on stage so I looked really serious, but it was because I hated my teeth and was incredibly nervous."

There was another reason for Numan's awkwardness, although he did not know it at the time. He has a mild form of Asperger's Syndrome, which makes basic human social interaction difficult.

Numan admitted, "I might say things in an abrupt way which makes me seem cold and uncaring."

The multi-millionaire continues: "If I meet someone in a pub I won't know what to say to them and I'll find it very hard to make eye contact. I've learned to cope with it, but when I was young it definitely caused me problems."

Watch Gary Numan perform 'Are Friends Electric' on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1979 below:

Fearne Cotton unveils in the October issue of Cosmopolitan magazine that she looks like a boy in a dress.

Cotton tells the glossy: "I don't have any boobs, so I can't wear beautiful dresses – I look like a boy in them.

"The glamorous shapes of the '70s suit me more, in that kind of floaty, bohemian way. I like to get my legs out but not my arms. But that's the beauty of fashion. There's something out there for every shape going."

Despite not feeling able to wear dresses, Cotton has a packed walk-in wardrobe which is split into seven sections:

"Two big wardrobes are bags and shoes – I would be quite disgusted to count how many shoes I have; it's well over a hundred. Shoes and bags are my weakness. My life is quite chaotic and my house is very chaotic. But my clothes? That's one thing I make sure is kept organised."

Peaches Geldof denies drug claims

Peaches Geldof has dismissed reports that she uses heroin after being seen at the Vivienne Westwood fashion party on Wednesday (September 7) with marks on her arms.

Geldof stated: "I’m not on drugs. If people feel the need to validate my weight loss by saying I’m on drugs then shame on them.

“I’ve changed my diet and the way I live. That’s it. The marks on my arms have been there since childhood. Check any picture – it’s caused by a skin condition called psoriasis.”

Speaking about her slim appearance, Geldof revealed that it's not due to any crash diet but that she is naturally thin like her mother and, as soon as she started eating healthily again, the weight dropped off again

The 22-year-old continued: “The truth is I just didn’t want to treat my body badly anymore. I got avian flu and that kick-started the change. I was never fat – it was just the fact that my diet was so unhealthy.”

Geldof's mother, Paula Yates died of a heroin overdose in 2000.

Peter Hook "saddened and upset" with New Order reunion

New Order bassist, Peter Hook, has opened up about how he feels about the band reforming without him.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, he says his own excitement for his solo tour has been dampened since finding out that New Order, the band he "put away for 34 years" has reformed without him in the line-up.

Hook said: "It’s a very difficult thing to talk about because it’s an odd position to be in. We are in business together, we have a Ltd. company together, and it’s been the goings-on behind the scenes that are the major problem.

"Them reforming as New Order, if you’re gonna ask me I’m gonna say it’s not New Order. It’s some members of New Order going out as New Order. It’s like me saying I’m going out as Joy Division.

"Their opinion might be different, but it’s a very tricky situation to be in and it’s upsetting because it was presented like a fait accompli. If I was gonna go out and say I was gonna use the name Joy Division I think you would feel duty bound to ask the other members, but obviously they don’t feel duty bound, they just did it.

"So I suppose the sad part has to be that your relationship has gone so bad that this is the outcome.

Hook re-emphasised his feelings by writing about the New Order reunion on his blog this week, stating that a reunion without him would be like "Queen without Freddie Mecury, Sooty without Sweep".

Hook will be joined by Moby for one of his L.A. concerts next week after the 'Wait For Me' star contacted him to get onto the guestlist. Moby's set to sing 'New Dawn Fade' and 'Insight'.

Peter Hook and The Light will perform Joy Division's 'Closer' album in full on Wednesday (September 14) and Joy Division's ' Unknown Pleasure' on Thursday (September 16) in L.A.

Robert Smith talks Facebook and riots

The Cure's frontman, Robert Smith, talks exclusively to today's Guardian on the eve of headling Bestival this weekend about Facebook, riots and the media.

Smith admits that he has a Facebook page: "but I've never put anything on it. I've got a presence on all the social networks, in fact, but I've never once sent a message. I'm there because otherwise, someone's going to pretend to be me.

"I have no interest or desire in having a conversation with anyone other than the people that I know. I'm in the strange position of the world drifting away from me, but you know what? I'm actually quite content with that. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I don't feel like, 'Oh God, I'm being left behind.'"

An ex-Londoner, he remembers the Brixton riots first-hand and feels that the current 24-hour media coverage culture has only made the matter worse: "They keep showing the same images over and over, and it gives the impression it's happening everywhere, all the time. Perspective has been lost. Suddenly you've got these polls saying, 'Give the police live ammunition.' And I'm like, 'Hold on! It's not that bad, really'!

"It just paves the way for the police to be armed, curfews to be put in. It's like we're all sliding inexorably towards this fucking police state, populated with roaming gangs, like a 2000AD comic."

The Cure embarked on a world tour in 2008 in support of newly released album '4:13 Dream' despite the fact he felt unsure that the band would ever play live again.

Smith Said: " I hated the idea of sliding into the twilight zone, going through the motions. My whole life I've played music for my own personal enjoyment and the idea of it becoming a machine or a business is just horrible."

The Cure headline Bestival tonight (September 10). Sky Arts 1 will be covering their performance live at 10pm.

Twice Grammy-nominated singer, Skylar Grey, tells today's Sun how Eminem fought to keep her vocals on Dr Dre's 'I Need A Doctor' even though he was being pressurised to get Lady Gaga to sing the female vocals.

Grey, who wrote the chorus to the song, said: "That was an important time for me. Everyone was talking about who they should get to sing the female vocals.

"Everyone wanted Lady GaGa but Eminem said no and that he wanted to keep my vocals on the song. That meant a lot to me."

Grey's big break came when English producer, Alex Da Kid, sent her the melody to 'Love The Way You Lie'.

"He sent me the beats and I just wrote from the heart. The next time I heard it was on the radio with Eminem and Rihanna — I was blown away."

Grey's own studio album, 'Invinsible' was named by her friend Marilyn Manson and is set to be released by the end of this year (2011).
