Boy George says jail's not like GaGa's video

Boy George has joked that his time in jail was nothing like Lady GaGa's women-in-prison promo video for "Telephone".

Last year, George served four months of a 15-month sentence at HMP Edmunds Hill in Newmarket for assault and false imprisonment of a male escort at his London flat.

Talking to Matt Edmonson for Sony Ericsson Pocket TV, George said, "It wasn't anything like the new Lady GaGa video. It was not like that at all. Less fashion. You wear your own clothes in the daytime - nothing too fancy - you're not allowed hoods. Hoodies are banned. On the visits you have to wear these really horrible denim trousers and a stripy shirt tucked in. I looked like a lesbian."

Of Lady GaGa, he added, "Yeah, we've met. I like her, she's really nice. I met her at the Brits. She asked me to sign her vagina. "She said, 'Can you sign my vagina?' - those were her exact words. I was like, 'Okay! What kind of pen would you like to use?'."

M.I.A.'s new LP is a total departure

M.I.A.'s new album will be "a total departure" from her established sound, her music producer says.

The singer, whose real name is Maya Arulpragasam, has been working with Diplo on her third LP. They previously collaborated on her breakthrough single 'Paper Planes'.

He revealed, "On the new record I've just done for her - which might be the single - I sampled a bunch of gospely, old-school, Alabama, weird, Sacred Harp singers. It's turning into an Animal Collective kind of record, which represents a total departure from what you would expect from her, but that's where her head was at." He continued, "She just had a baby so she was on this elated mood. With her it's always sort of random, whatever you think was not going to be productive - that recording ended up being a really s**tty demo and then it turned into a big song."

Kate Nash wants to produce music

Kate Nash has revealed that she wants to learn how to produce records.

The singer, who's new album 'My Best Friend Is You' is produced by the award-winning Bernard Butler, admits he inspired her to learn more about how a recording studio works. She revealed, “I want to do a course and learn to produce and engineer records properly, maybe for other bands. I've always been interested but Bernard has inspired me to take it further. He makes it fun because he's been on the other side. He's a supportive and humble musician."

Nash has also revealed that she pushed herself on the new LP to explore new sounds and not follow the current music trends. She explained, "As an artist you have to push yourself. I think it's good to keep doing new things. I never want to recreate anything I've done before. That's just pointless in my book. New music trends and scenes are always followed by copycats," she said. "Record companies attach themselves to what kids like then ruin it. The tone of my music is still the same, if maybe a little more grown-up and with more guitar."

Adam Ant set to make comeback album

Adam Ant has confirmed that he is working on his first album in 15 years, and that an ex-Oasis member reportedly plays on it.

The album, which will be named 'Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar in Marrying The Gunner's Daughter', also features collaborations with former 3 Colours Red guitarist Chris McCormack and Ant's long-time songwriting partner Marco Pirroni. He said that "one of the songs features a member of Oasis". Morrissey's writing partner Boz Boorer is also understood to have contributed to the album.

According to Ant, the album is a "live record that lends itself to performance" and will feature a "kind of concept. It's a very old fashioned, old school, step-by-step album".

In addition, Ant has recorded a song in tribute to the late Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, who died earlier this month, and who also once managed Adam & The Ants. Named 'Who's A Goofy Bunny Then?', the track was only previously available as a demo recorded in the early '80s, but Ant says he wants to release a new version in tribute to the late punk manager.

"Malcolm was a sort of mentor in my life" he explained. "As close as you can get to a surrogate father." The song takes its name from a term of endearment bestowed upon McLaren by Ant - referring to his "quite prominent teeth".

Meanwhile, Ant admitted that he still has "a whole bunch" of demos from the early part of his career that he is considering revisiting and recording properly now. "(There are) literally about a hundred songs done on a four-track and I use them whenever I can," he explained. "There was a whole album before 'Dirk Wears White Sox' (1979 debut album) that never really came out, but I've still got the masters. It's a labour of love, this catalogue. To get rid of it would be like giving away something John Lennon and Paul McCartney banged out in a night in a pub in Liverpool. I think it's your duty to catalogue your work."

Prince has been confirmed as one of the headliners at this year's Roskilde festival in Denmark.

The 'Purple Rain' popstar will play the event as part of a three-date tour around Europe in July, confirmed eFestivals.

Roskilde's music director Rikke Øxner said that he had to "pinch himself" when he finally sealed the deal with the US star. "Getting Prince to Roskilde Festival has been on our wish list for years," he said. "He's not a frequent guest at festivals, so it's a great honour for us. It's wonderful finally to be able to tell this great news to our audience."

The duo, who were nominated for 'Best Album' with their self-titled LP at this year's Brit Awards, will follow up their electro debut with a guitar-driven concept record.

Singer Elly Jackson has said, "If I made a record like the last one again I'd be there for the dumping pile. We're contemplating a concept album on the subject of monogamy and I've gone back to playing the guitar."

Jackson also admitted that the group had turned down collaborations with Rihanna, Nelly Furtado and N*E*R*D. She explained, 'Do I want to work with Rihanna? Not really. I'm more interested in what the phone call would be."

Madonna has revealed that she loves the episode of Glee that pays homage to her singing career.

The 51-year-old singer, whose songs 'Vogue' and 'Express Yourself' are used in an upcoming episode of the show, said that she thinks it is "brilliant" and "genius". Madonna told Us Magazine, "I thought the Madonna episode of 'Glee' was brilliant on every level. The dialogue and the entire script was genius. I completely appreciated the layers of irony, especially when all those macho boys sang 'What It Feels Like For A Girl'. I also loved the fantastic performances of 'Vogue', 'Express Yourself' and all the messages about the boys being respectful to girls. The entire cast was amazing. They're all so talented. I especially loved Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and Kurt Hummel's (Chris Colfer) characters. (Show creator) Ryan Murphy did a great job bringing all these elements together. (My daughter) Lola loved the show, too. I wish I went to a high school like that... If only."
