JLS respond to criticism

British boyband JLS have denied that their new single, 'The Club Is Alive' relies too heavily on Auto-Tune.

"Like anything in life, there's going to be people who find something negative in it, but generally the response has been fantastic. We love the song and we're very happy with it."

The group claim that the use of studio trickery on the track is merely for effect and not to correct their vocals.

"We sat down and discussed the whole idea with (producer) Steve (Mac) first. We loved the sound of the Auto-Tune on Usher's 'OMG', which has obviously been a massive hit. We all know Usher can sing, but he was using it as an effect. Similarly for us, we wanted to come back with something new and fresh, and that effect put a slight twist on our sound."

"We sang live on 'The X Factor' for ten weeks, so obivously we're using Auto-Tune on this track as an effect rather than to help us sound in tune!," added Marvin Humes.

'The Club Is Alive' is out on July 5.
