The Script have revealed that a song found on their new album 'Science & Faith', was inspired by the recession.

The track - 'For The First Time' - was penned after the band returned home to Dublin and were shocked by the hard times their friends and family were having.

"We had all this success and went back thinking we wanted to celebrate with all of our mates, who told us to ‘get a f***ing real job'," explained bassist Mark Sheehan.

He continued, "Dublin was hit really, really hard and it seemed to stun everyone a bit. We couldn’t share our experiences as our friends had lost their jobs."

The Script are set to release their upcoming album, 'Science & Faith' on September 13th.
